Liverpool manager Arne Slot reportedly wants to sign former Manchester City defender Jeremie Frimpong this summer. The Dutch manager highly rates his 23-year-old compatriot.

Frimpong came through Manchester City's ranks, making 68 appearances across different youth teams, registering three goals and seven assists. He then moved to Celtic in 2019 before joining Bayer Leverkusen in January 2021. He's made 142 appearances for the German side, scoring 25 goals and providing 32 assists.

Frimpong was a key member of Xabi Alonso's squad that won the Bundesliga and the DFB-Pokal undefeated last season. He scored 14 goals and provided 12 assists in 47 games across competitions as they also reached the UEFA Europa League final.

As per BILD (via Tribal Football), Arne Slot has been impressed with Frimpong and wants to sign him this summer. The fullback's contract with Bayer Leverkusen expires in 2028 but it has a release clause worth €40-45 million.

Liverpool currently have Trent Alexander-Arnold as their first-choice right-back but he's been linked with a move to Real Madrid. In his absence, Conor Bradley did well last season while centre-back Joe Gomez can also fill in as a right-back at times.

Liverpool 'confident' of securing Premier League defender's signature: Reports

As per TEAMtalk, Liverpool are confident they can sign Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi this summer. They are willing to pay his £65 asking price, with his deal with Palace expiring in 2026. Chelsea also owe 20% of the fee from the defender's sale.

The Reds, meanwhile, parted ways with Joel Matip on a free transfer this summer. Sepp van den Berg, who was on loan at Mainz last season, is expected to leave as well. Hence, they want to sign a defender to compete with Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, and Jarell Quansah.

Guehi has been excellent for Crystal Palace over the years and added another feather with his performances for England at UEFA Euro 2024. He was arguably the Three Lions' best player as they reached the final.

As per the aforementioned report, Guehi won't push for an exit from Palace due to his respect for the side he joined from Chelsea in 2021. However, if Liverpool and the Eagles can agree on a fee, he would be willing to move to Anfield.
