According to Fabrizio Romano, Sevilla have agreed a deal to sign Albert Sambi Lokonga on loan from Arsenal. The Andalusian club will cover his wages and the loan deal will also include a €12 million buy option.

Lokonga also has his medical booked with Sevilla, as per Romano. The Belgian midfielder joined Arsenal from RSC Anderlecht in 2021 and made 39 appearances for the Premier League giants.

The Belgian failed to establish himself as a key player in Mikel Arteta's team. He spent the second half of the 2022-23 season on loan at Crystal Palace. He then played for Luton Town on loan during the 2023-24 season, making 19 appearances. He scored once and provided three assists.

Lokonga, 24, never had a goal contribution for the Gunners and is now set for a move away to Sevilla. The central midfielder's contract with the north London club runs until the end of the 2025-26 season.

Arteta already has Declan Rice, Thomas Partey, Jorginho, and other options at his disposal, meaning it's hard for Lokonga to have a future at the club. Sevilla, though, could give him the needed game time and a move seemingly serves both parties' interests.

Arsenal looking to bring Euro 2024 star back to Premier League: Reports

As per Mundo Deportivo, Arsenal could make yet another midfield signing this summer as the club are courting Mikel Merino. The midfielder scored Spain's late extra-time winner in the thrilling 2-1 win against Germany in the Euro 2024 quarter-finals.

He is currently in Real Sociedad's ranks and has a £54.9 million release clause. However, he could be available for a lot less and the Basque club might consider selling if Merino doesn't renew his deal.

He is contracted with Sociedad until the end of the 2024-25 season. He previously had a stint with Newcastle United in English football, scoring once and providing one assist in 25 appearances for the Magpies.
