Palestino face Medellin on Wednesday

Palestino welcome Independiente Medellin to Estadio Municipal de La Cisterna in a Copa Sudamericana round-of-16 tie on Wednesday. The home side are coming into the game on the back of a 4-1 comeback home victory over O'Higgins in the Chilean Primera Division.

They were behind to Bryan Rebello's 44th-minute strike. Misael Carvajal, Bryan Carrasco, Gonzalo Sosa and Joe Abrigo scored second-half goals to complete the comeback. Both sides ended the game with 10 men.

Medellin, meanwhile, fell to a 2-0 defeat away to Deportivo Cali. Jonathan Marulanda and Freddy Montero scored in either half to guide their side to all three points.

El Rojo Paisa will turn their focus to the continent and booked their spot at this stage of the Sudamericana as Group A winners. Palestino dropped from the Copa Libertadores and eliminated Cuiaba with a 3-2 aggregate victory in the playoff round.

The winner of this tie will face either LDU Quito or Lanus in the next round of the Sudamericana.

Palestino vs Medellin Prediction

Palestino started off their continental sojourn this season in the Libertadores. They will be aiming to qualify to the last eight of the Sudamericana. Their games over the last few months have typically been high-scoring.

Medellin, by contrast, have been involved in cagey games but could be smarting from seeing their three-month unbeaten streak come crashing down last time out.

Although one side could nick a win, we are backing the two sides to share the spoils in a low-scoring stalemate.

Prediction: Palestino 1-1 Medellin
