Fans of Manchester City hailed Rico Lewis on social media for his performance in the club's 4-0 victory over Slovan Bratislava in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday. The teenage defender played a vital role in the win, bagging an assist and helping the team secure a clean sheet.

"Rico Lewis is our best player right now," a fan said.

Another post hailed the ability of the defender, saying:

"Rico Lewis is an absolute baller."
"Appreciate greatness. The future of football is safe in the hands of Rico Lewis," a fan wrote.

A fan hailed the defender's rapid rise.

Another post declared Lewis the Man of the Match and made a selection call.

Lewis has played 3,792 minutes for the reigning English champions in 59 games. The defender will be keen to build on his fine performance for his boyhood team and establish himself as a regular.


Manchester City boss hails James McAtee after goal against Slovan Bratislava

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has hailed James McAtee after he found the back of the net for the club in their UEFA Champions League win over Slovan Bratislava. The reigning English champions won the game 4-0 to secure their first win in the competition's new format.

The midfielder came on for 29 minutes and scored his first-ever goal for the side in the 74th minute. At the final whistle, Guardiola took time out to salute McAtee, saying via Eurosport:

“All of us, we are so happy for him. He’s adorable and all the guys love him. McAtee moved really well in small spaces. Make a fantastic goal, have another chance and, for him, it will be a good boost. We want to make him feel that ‘you are part of that group’ and ‘you are able to play without a doubt.’”

Speaking to TNT Sports, the midfielder was overjoyed to have broken his duck, saying via Eurosport:

“I’m over the moon. I think this is what every kid dreams of so it’s definitely a dream come true.”

Manchester City's next game is against Fulham in the Premier League, where they will be keen to secure another win and maintain their bid to retain the title for a fifth consecutive season. McAtee will hope to feature and add to his 318 minutes spread across 11 appearances for the reigning English champions.
