Cristiano Ronaldo has admitted defeat to Lionel Messi in the race to claim the most Ballon d'Or award. The duo have claimed the award 13 times combined throughout their storied careers, with the Portuguese star bagging five and his Argentine rival claiming eight.
The duo is unlikely to win any more Ballon d'Or awards. With Ronaldo now 39 and Messi 37, they are now in the twilight of their careers and even missed out on the shortlist for the prize for the first time in a generation.
