Nico Williams has picked Real Madrid veteran Dani Carvajal as the player from Spain's Euro 2024 squad who deserves to win the Ballon d'Or this year.

When asked which Spanish player in the squad deserves to win the annual honor, the Athletic Bilbao winger replied (via @MadridXtra on X):

"Carvajal."

The 32-year-old defender, who made his senior debut for Spain in 2014, has netted one goal and provided seven assists in 48 appearances across all competitions for La Roja and won the UEFA Nations League in 2022–23 with the team.

Dani Carvajal, who is considered as one of the best right-backs of his generation, joined Real Madrid in 2013. He has scored 13 goals and provided 64 assists in 416 appearances across all competitions for Los Blancos.

He has won four La Liga titles and six UEFA Champions League titles, among other honors, with the Spanish giants. His contract with the club runs up to June 30, 2025.

After bagging a 2-1 win against Germany in the quarter-final of Euro 2024 on July 5, Spain are set to face France in the semi-finals on July 9, at Allianz Arena in Munich. La Roja have won the UEFA European Championship in 1964, 2008, and 2012, while being runners-up in 1984. They also ended up in third place in 2020.


Nacho claimed former Real Madrid teammate deserves to win 2024 Ballon d'Or

Former Real Madrid captain Nacho has named Brazillian star Vinicius Junior to be the deserving winner of the Ballon d'Or this year. While speaking to Spanish outlet El Chiringuito de Jugones, the 34-year-old defender mentioned the forward's contributions and achievements with Los Blancos and said (as quoted by Madrid Xtra):

"Ballon D'Or? Without doubt, Vinicius. For what he did with Real Madrid and what we won. Without doubt."

Vinicius Junior, who joined Los Blancos in 2018, has netted 24 goals and provided 11 assists in 39 appearances, while winning the La Liga, Supercopa de España, and the UEFA Champions League this season. Overall, he has registered 83 goals and 75 assists in 264 matches for the Spanish giants.
