Former U.S. international Herculez Gomez recently urged former Chelsea star Christian Pulisic to resist any temptation of returning to the Premier League with Liverpool. He pointed out the winger's performance at AC Milan and how it's translated at the international level.

Pulisic joined AC Milan in the summer of 2023 after an underwhelming stint at Chelsea. He has thrived in Serie A, and the player-turned-commentator underlined the 26-year-old should stay put. Gomez said to ESPN (via Goal.com):

“I don’t hate it, and I understand that it’s Liverpool. I’m not going to get into a discussion about which team is bigger – whether it is Liverpool or AC Milan. Milan is one of those teams that the brand is notorious, it’s a massive club.
"He’s finally found a place where he’s valued, it doesn’t matter who the coach is, he feels comfortable in multiple positions.”

Pulisic has settled in well at Milan, becoming a key figure for the Italian powerhouse. With Liverpool reportedly eyeing him as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah, whose contract ends next summer, Gomez feels such a move could jeopardize Pulisic’s resurgence. He said:

"I wouldn’t jeopardise that for a move back to the Premier League. I like the fact that he has found a place where he’s thriving, I like the fact that he feels comfortable in a set-up and he is the man there and they think of him as a leader, they think of him as an important piece to that puzzle right there."
"So I don’t want want him going anywhere. I’ve finally found a Christian Pulisic that is doing well at the club level, and I do think these performances are going to translate at the international level, so I would like for him to stay,” Herculez added, highlighting the 26-year-old's growth at Milan.

Pulisic has signed a contract with the Rossoneri until 2027 and Gomez doubled down to agree with his decision.

“I understand the glitz and the glamour of the Premier League, but you don’t jeopardise that – certainly if you are at a place like AC Milan - just to test the water of the Premier League. You don’t need to prove anything to anybody.”

Pulisic scored 26 goals and provided 19 assists in 145 games for Chelsea.

Liverpool-linked Christian Pulisic’s resurgence at AC Milan after Chelsea exit

Christian Pulisic’s time at AC Milan has been a breath of fresh air for the U.S. Men’s National Team skipper. After leaving Chelsea in 2023, he has rediscovered his best form. He's quickly become one of Milan’s most influential players, netting 20 goals and providing 13 assists in 58 appearances.

This season, Pulisic has been integral to Milan’s strong start in Serie A. He's contributed with five goals and two assists in eight games across competitions, showing versatility across the front line.

Pulisic’s performances are not just a sign of individual growth, but a reflection of his comfort and fit in the Milan system. With a contract in place until 2027, Pulisic could finally reach the ceilings many had earlier imagined for him before the underwhelming spell at Chelsea.
