Real Betis left-back Romain Perraud recently hailed Liverpool's Andy Robertson as the best left-back in the world. He praised the Scotsman and also said that he watches him as a reference at times.
Robertson has been a key player for the Reds since arriving from Hull City in 2017. He has made over 300 appearances for the club, scoring 11 goals and providing 65 assists. He has formed a brilliant partnership with right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold as the duo has helped the Merseysiders win numerous trophies.
In a recent interview with El Correo de Andalucia, Real Betis defender Romain Perraud said (via Rousing the Kop):
“For the last four or five years, I think the best left-back in the world is Liverpool’s Robertson. When I have time, it’s important for me to see his ability to play in this position. It’s a very, very good example."
Perraud has faced off against Robertson twice during the former's time at Southampton, losing both games by a combined scoreline of 7-1.
Arne Slot on how Liverpool are shaping up under him so far
The Reds saw a major change at the end of last season as Jurgen Klopp left the club after an illustrious nine-year stint as manager. Liverpool then appointed Arne Slot as their new manager and he's had an excellent start to life at the club.
The Merseysiders have won five of their first six games across competitions. They have won four of their five Premier League games and also beat AC Milan at San Siro in the UEFA Champions League. Their only defeat came against Nottingham Forest at home.
After their 3-0 win over Bournemouth at Anfield on September 21, Arne Slot was asked how he felt his team are getting along. He said (via Liverpoolfc.com):
"I said to them today in the pre-match meeting that I learn from them day by day and I was really curious to see how we would react after the Milan game. What I know from the start – and what I knew before I even started – is that there is a lot of quality in this team, that's clear, but we are not the only one. There are a lot of quality teams in this league.
"So, winning games is not so difficult if you have so much quality, but if you want to win more than only a few games it's also about mentality."
Liverpool are next scheduled to take on West Ham United at home on Wednesday, September 25 in the EFL Cup third round.
