“What a buy he was!" - Martin Keown claims Arsenal superstar was 'worth every penny' after his showing in Leicester win

Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown has spoken about Gunners superstar Leandro Trossard, following their win over Leicester City. The Gunners picked up all three points, beating the Foxes 4-2 at the Emirates Stadium on September 28, and Trossard was a vital part of their attack.

The Belgian was a thorn in the Foxes' defense, scoring the Gunners' second goal on the cusp of half-time and partaking in the third by forcing an own goal. Martin Keown was full of praise for Trossard while speaking on BBC Sport as a pundit. The former defender said (via TBR Football):

“What a buy Leandro Trossard was! Worth every penny. A perfect day if it finishes like this. Arsenal score from a set-piece – who’d believe it? Arsenal just kept believing. It is a lucky goal and ‘lucky Arsenal’ is a nice tag to have.”

Trossard notably moved to the Emirates Stadium in January 2023 after the Gunners paid £27 million to Brighton & Hove Albion for his services. Since arriving, the Belgian international has gone on to make 75 appearances, scoring 20 goals and providing 12 assists.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta pleased after Gunners rally to win 4-2

While the scoreline can give the impression that it was an easy game for the Gunners, Leicester City gave them a rather tough time. Mikel Arteta's men scored two goals in the first half, but the Foxes equalized in the second half, and it looked like the game would end in a draw.

However, the Gunners prodded and prodded, eventually picking up a third and a fourth goal deep into injury time. Mikel Arteta spoke about his worry when it seemed like the game might end in a draw. He told the press (via Football.London):

"Very worrying. Especially in that scenario. In theory, with the performance we produced, you should never get to this point, but this is the beauty of football in relation to other sports. We did it with the support of our supporters who were unbelievable again."

He was also glad about how they eventually won the game:

"...This is the Premier League, this is the quality and the quality of Leicester. They scored two goals. But I'm really happy with how we dealt with that situation after. Emotionally super controlled, doing what we had to do, how consistently we attacked the spaces. I think we deserved to win the game."

Arsenal now have to turn to the UEFA Champions League next, as they will face Paris Saint-Germain at the Emirates Stadium on October 1.
