Will Liverpool sign Gordon this summer?

Former German footballer Didi Hamann has backed Anthony Gordon to replace Egyptian superstar Mohamed Salah at Liverpool. He believes that the Newcastle United star would be a brilliant signing for the Reds, while also mentioning Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Speaking to Top Offshore Casinos via Mirror, Hamann claimed that Gordon has shown his quality in the Premier League and should be able to adapt easily. He believes that the Englishman is one of the best players at Newcastle United.

Hamann said:

"No one really knew what to expect when Liverpool signed Mohamed Salah, on the other hand, we've seen Anthony Gordon have a huge impact in the Premier League. He did so at Everton even when they were struggling and after a tough start at Newcastle he has battled through and he's one of their best players now. I read somewhere that Liverpool is his boyhood club and I think it would be a brilliant signing, it also looks like Newcastle might need to sell some players this summer too. So Gordon would be great."

He added:

"Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has been mentioned from Napoli who said he wants to leave the club. But then obviously it depends on what Salah does. It's been said for the last few years that it's his last season and that he's going to go in the summer. So obviously we need to find out and see what's happening but I think Gordon would be a brilliant signing because obviously going forward if you've got pace, it just changes games."

Anthony Gordon was linked with a move to Liverpool last month but the transfer talks broke down. Newcastle United wanted Jarell Quansah in the deal and the Reds were unwilling to let the defender leave.

Gordon, aged 23, played 48 matches across all competitions in the 2023-24 season, scoring 12 goals and providing 11 assists.

Manchester United urged to move for Liverpool target by Louis Saha

Louis Saha believes Anthony Gordon would be a great signing for Manchester United. He claims that the Englishman is similar to Argentine winger Alejandro Garnacho.

Saha told MyBettingSites via Betfred Insights:

"I'm not surprised that there's interest in him because he's been showing the signs of a player that wants to develop as quickly as possible. In regards to whether I want Manchester United to join the race to sign him, I think Manchester United will always like those types of players that can be unpredictable, that are hardworking and can impact games."
"His workrate is certainly an advantage, but he's also very solid technically. Similar to Alejandro Garnacho, Anthony brings energy, confidence and drive, and that's so exciting to see," he added.

Manchester United were in the market for a winger but with things sorted out between Erik ten Hag and Jadon Sancho, the talks have cooled down. The Red Devils are now working on getting a midfielder, with Manuel Ugarte of Paris Saint-Germain linked with a move to Old Trafford.
