Barcelona fans praised young midfielder Pablo Torre after his top-notch performance against Manchester City

Barcelona fans reacted to Pablo Torre's stellar display in the Blaugrana's penalty shootout victory over Manchester City in a pre-season friendly on Tuesday (July 30). New manager Hansi Flick experimented with his squad, naming a group of young prospects in his starting lineup, and Barca fans were impressed with their performances.

Pau Victor, 22, opened the scoring in the 24th minute, but Nico O'Reilly equalized for City (39'). Torre scored Barcelona's second in the dying embers of the first half (45+2') with a sweet right-footed strike into the bottom corner.

City equalized in the 59th minute through Jack Grealish but lost 4-1 in the ensuing penalty shootout. Barca fans were delighted with the performances of their young stars and showered special praise on Torre.

Fans believed that the Catalans wouldn't need to sign top midfield target and RB Leipzig superstar Dani Olmo if Torre continued to play such spectacular football.

"We don’t need Olmo. Pablo Torre can do better," a fan wrote.
"This what we call generational talent. Pablo Torre," another user chimed in.

Here is a selection of fan reactions (via X):

"We might not need Dani Olmo if Pablo Torre can stay fit. He can rotate the 8 position with Pedri," @Mudasiru_Semiu noted.

Claiming that Barcelona had enough midfield depth coming from their famed La Masia academy, @ondaSPECKtrum wrote:

"We dont need Olmo we have Pablo Torre, Pedri, Gundo. Casado should play more. La Masia is cooking."
"Pablo Torre, Pau Victor should play more often..." @ukCulerrr asserted.
"We don't need Olmo we got Torre," @strikerfn1x claimed.

Analyzing Torre's game, @Azy492 wrote:

"Pablo Torre is a baller, Dani Olmo might just gives u some goals, but Torre is proper midfielder he will give u those linebreaking passes and through balls."
"It really feels redundant for Barca to get Olmo, they should just develop Pablo Torre tbh," @Footballistan_ reaffirmed the resounding sentiment.
"Pablo Torre szn I'm so ready," @Martin05FCB wrote.

"He hasn't told me anything" - Pablo Torre on uncertain future at Barcelona under Hansi Flick

Barcelona's rising star Pablo Torre claimed that new manager Hansi Flick has not yet informed him if he is part of the club's project moving forward. However, he praised the German manager as a "good guy," saying the players were happy with him.

Torre has grabbed his first-team opportunities with both hands, having scored two goals in pre-season (against Olot and Manchester City). However, after the game against City, the 21-year-old said his future at the club isn't certain.

Speaking to reporters, he said (via Barca Universal on X):

"Hansi Flick is very close to the players. We're very happy with him, he seems to be a good guy. He hasn't told me anything about my future yet."
