Patrice Evra has reacted to recent rumors of him being handed a 12-month jail sentence by posting a bizarre video on social media. Multiple reports from mainstream media stated that the former Manchester United star received a suspended prison sentence for abandoning his family.

It is alleged that Evra failed to pay alimony to his ex-wife and abandoned her alongside their two kids between 2021 and 2023. The 43-year-old has responded to these reports by uploading a video of him in a prison setting mocking his reported imprisonment.

In the video which was captioned 'Let me shutdown this rubbish news: look how much I enjoyed myself in prison,' Evra can be seen in a caged basketball court wearing a wig, an orange jumpsuit with cuffs on his hand.

The former France international also had a large dollar-sign neckline around his neck and wore a golden teeth grill as he mimicked being in prison albeit being free. He wore just one sneaker and showed off some dancing moves through the clip.

Patrice Evra and his ex-wife Sandra tied the knot in 2007 and have two children - a boy and a girl. However, the pair separated in 2020 after the ex-football star filed for divorce but are yet to settle amicably leading to the current issue.

The former France captain is adamant though that he does not owe the alleged spousal maintenance and has filed an appeal against the ruling through his lawyers.
