Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that his club are set to lure Yang Min-hyuk away from K League 1 side Gangwon FC ahead of the next campaign.

During a recent chat with football.london journalist Alasdair Gold, Postecoglou was asked to provide insight into Spurs' interest in Yang. He confirmed that his side will sign the star (h/t X/@Fabrizio Romano):

"I'm well aware of the quality of the K League. Korean players have made a fantastic impact across Europe."

Earlier on Thursday, The Athletic stated that Tottenham have agreed a deal to rope in Yang from Gangwon. The right-footed winger is set to remain at the Korean side until January before joining up with Spurs, who finished fifth in the Premier League table last season.

Yang, 18, made his debut for Gangwon in a 1-1 league draw against Jeju United in March this year. He has made 24 appearances for his club so far, recording seven goals and three assists in 1,944 minutes.

K League 1 expert backs Tottenham target to emulate Son Heung-min in near future

During an interaction with football.london, South Korean football journalist Sungmo Lee shared his thoughts Tottenham Hotspur-linked winger Yang Min-hyuk. He said:

"Yang Min-hyuk is the best young player in the K League right now, and most significantly, he's still a high school student. His talent was so exceptional so his club Gangwon proposed the professional contract to a high school student which was the first ever case in K League's history."

Backing Yang to reach Son Heung-min's heights soon, Lee added:

"He showed great performances in K League this season, winning the 'Young Player of the Month' award three times in a row from April to June. He is a great dribbler but also possesses great finishing skills which makes Korean fans hope that he can become the next Son Heung-min, especially if he joins the same club with Son in Tottenham."

Claiming that Phil Foden is Yang's favorite footballer, Lee concluded:

"His favourite football player is Phil Foden at Manchester City. He is using same back number with Foden as well, 47, although that's not to say he's using it because of him. There are other reasons. He did however once say, 'I want to be a player like Foden who has great skills but is also great at helping his teammates'."

Should Yang seal a permanent transfer to Tottenham this summer, he would be the club's third 18-year-old arrival ahead of the next season.

Yang could be in action for Team K League in their contest against Spurs at Seoul World Cup Stadium in Seoul on Wednesday (July 31).
