Liverpool fans on social media have heaped praise on their talisman, Mohamed Salah, following his impressive display against Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday, October 20. The Egyptian winger scored a goal and provided an assist as the Reds secured a 2-1 victory at home to maintain their spot at the summit of the Premier League table.

Chelsea enjoyed a positive start to the match in terms of possession and control. Their efforts were undone when Levi Colwill brought down Curtis Jones in the penalty area to hand the hosts a spot kick, which Salah clinically dispatched in the 29th minute.

Three minutes into the second half, Nicolas Jackson restored parity for the Blues after receiving a through ball from Moises Caicedo. However, Chelsea’s celebrations were short-lived as Liverpool’s lead was restored in the 51st minute. Salah was the architect this time as his cross found Curtis Jones, who timed his run well and coolly put the ball past goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.

Fans expressed their excitement about Salah's performance on X, with one writing:

''This team without salah is nothing lmfao. Put the check down and have put whatever number he wants''

Another tweeted:

''Mo Salah is the first player in PL history to score a goal and provide an assist in 10 different games vs the Big 6. Big. Game. Player.
''Mohamed Salah playing against Big 6 PL club is a literal statpad session for him. he's acc crazy,'' another fan commented.
''He's up there top 3 in best PL players of all time. None of this toxic hazard,'' another chimed in.
''Good performance, Salah was the difference,'' one fan pointed out.

Salah played eight passes into the final third, won five duels, had five touches in the opposition box, completed three of the four dribbles he attempted, and created two chances.

After Sunday's performance, Salah has provided a goal and an assist in 34 Premier League matches, with only Wayne Rooney doing so in more games in the league's history (36). The Egyptian is now also the ninth all-time top scorer in the Premier League (162 goals).

Arne Slot heap praise on Curtis Jones for controlling Cole Palmer in Liverpool's 2-1 victory over Chelsea

While Mohamed Salah seems to have garnered the Liverpool fans' praise, Curtis Jones also had a very good game. Apart from scoring the winning goal for his side, the English midfielder kept Chelsea's Cole Palmer under wraps.

In the post-match conference, Arne Slot expressed how happy he was with the 23-year-old's performance. He told Sky Sports (via Mirror);

''He was very good. Very good individual performance. I think the whole team worked very hard. Curtis had a difficult job, he had to control Cole Palmer, which is not easy because this player has some quality.’
''It’s a team effort but Curtis was mostly responsible for that. He did that really well and he added some really important moments to it. He was two times involved in penalties and score the goal so he was, in both parts of the pitch, very important for us."

Curtis Jones' work-rate didn't go under the radar, as he was deservedly named the man of the match. The Reds will next face RB Leipzig in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, October 23.
