“There’s a hole in his boot!”, “Starting a motorbike!” - Viral commentary during embarrassing moment for Cristiano Ronaldo in Scotland draw emerges

Scottish commentators poked fun at Cristiano Ronaldo during their national team's 0-0 draw with Portugal in the UEFA Nations League on Tuesday, October 16. The Al-Nassr star, and the rest of his teammates, failed to find the back of the net against Scotland at Hampden Park.

Scotland had lost their first three games of the UEFA Nations League, including one against Portugal in September, and were bottom of Group 1. They were keen to get a point on the board when table leaders Portugal paid a visit to Glasgow.

Cristiano Ronaldo had a night to forget as he failed to score for the first time in this year's UEFA Nations League and was left fuming at the end of the game. The 39-year-old would have been a lot more annoyed if he had heard some of the commentary from Scottish commentators Andy Bargh and Charlie Mulgrew.

The duo left fans in stitches with their comments after the legendary forward failed to control a pass from Bruno Fernandes in the first half. They made fun of the 39-year-old, who saw the ball pass under his foot as he attempted to bring it under his control.

Bargh said on air (via The Scottish Sun):

"There's a hole in his boot!"

Former international Mulgrew added a bit more color to his comment;

"Don't often see that from Ronaldo, eh? Starting a motorbike! I did it plenty of times but you don't see it from him."

The 'starting a motorbike' comment was made funnier by the fact that with one foot off the ground, it did look as if the forward was attempting to start one.

Scotland defended resolutely against Portugal and Cristiano Ronaldo, in particular, given the danger he carries. The 39-year-old was limited to just four shots, of which only one was on target, during the match.

Cristiano Ronaldo made his landmark 200th career start for the Portugal national team in their 0-0 draw away to Scotland. The Al-Nassr man became the first player to reach this landmark in the colors of the Selecao.

Nearly 21 years and a week since the first start of his international career against Albania in October 2003, the forward was named in the starting XI by Roberto Martinez. Now 39 years old, he has won two trophies with the national team and scored 133 goals.

Ronaldo has played 216 times for the Selecao, but his passion was as evident against Scotland as it was in his debut against Kazakhstan in an August 2003 friendly. The forward now holds the record for most appearances in international football, as well as the first player to make 200 starts for his country.
