"There’s a change in system" - Inter Miami star says team are still trying to adapt to Lionel Messi following his return from injury

Sergio Busquets has stated that Inter Miami are still trying to adapt to Lionel Messi's return to the team. Busquets believes that having Messi on their side puts them in a more advantageous position, but his return has changed the team's dynamics.

After suffering an ankle injury in the Copa America final against Colombia in July, Messi missed two months of action for the Herons. He made his last appearance for Inter Miami in early June. During Messi’s absence, the Herons enjoyed a decent run of form, winning 10 matches and losing only three.

However, since the Argentine made his much-anticipated return for Inter Miami, the club has struggled to secure victories. Since his comeback match against Philadelphia, where they secured a 3-1 win as he scored a brace and provided an assist, Inter Miami have drawn three consecutive MLS fixtures.

Busquets recently talked about Inter Miami's form since Messi's return and said (via Inter Miami News):

“It’s true that with Leo and Luis there’s a change in system, and we have to adapt, but it’s an advantage to have him, and honestly, we need to find him more because we know what he’s capable of doing.”

Inter Miami forward says Lionel Messi impressed him more on the pitch than on TV

Inter Miami striker Leonardo Campana has claimed that Lionel Messi impressed him more as a teammate than when he watched him play on TV. Campana recalled a training session at the MLS club where Messi scored a goal, which made his other teammates stand up to applaud the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner. He told AS USA:

''Yes, 100%. I have a memory from one of the first training sessions. He finished off an amazing move in training, scores a great goal and we all just stood up and started applauding. That’s what a player like him does to you, you don’t see it anywhere else. He scores great goals every day. People just see this here and say, 'Wow! You can’t do anything else but marvel at him'."

Leonardo Campana is currently Inter Miami’s all-time leading goal scorer with 31 goals. He last scored for the Herons in their 1-1 draw with New York City.
