Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah has opened up on his new 'archer' celebration which he pulled off during the 2-0 victory over Ipswich Town on Matchday 1 of the 2024-25 Premier League season. The Egyptian revealed that he took the inspiration from UFC icon Israel Adesanya who celebrated like that after beating bitter rival Alex Pereira in their last face-off.

Recall that Liverpool opened their outing in the new Premier League season with an away fixture versus Ipswich Town on August 17. The Reds managed to secure a vital 2-0 victory to mark a promising start for Arne Slot, who took over the reins from Jurgen Klopp this summer.

The first half of the encounter was evenly matched result-wise, with the two sides failing to break the deadlock. However, the Reds were able to get themselves together and start to exert dominance immediately after the restart.

Diogo Jota opened the scoring with a cool effort at the 60th-minute mark. Mohamed Salah then ensured that the three points were safely secured by doubling their lead with a sensational strike just five minutes later.

The Egyptian celebrated by pulling off an 'archer' routine which got many talking and generated a lot of excitement among the Reds faithful. When asked where he got his new style of jubilation from during an interview with Men In Blazers, the Liverpool superstar explained (via GOAL):

“I was watching the UFC, Alex Pereira against Israel Adesanya and when [Adesanya] won the second fight against Pereira – he celebrated like that. So, I like the celebration and that’s why I did it."

After opening his account for the season with that goal, Mohamed Salah followed it up with another strike for the Reds in their 2-0 win over Brentford on Matchday 2. He appears to be in fine form at the moment and that is great news for the Merseysiders.
