Jadon Sancho has shared his thoughts after playing at Stamford Bridge for the first time as a Chelsea player. He did so in the Blues' 4-2 win over Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League on Saturday, September 28.
The west London side brought in Sancho on a season-long loan deal from Manchester United in the summer. The deal also has a conditional obligation to buy worth around £25 million, as per Fabrizio Romano. The English winger had made two away appearances for the club, providing two assists.
On Saturday, Sancho started against Brighton and provided an assist and also won a penalty as Enzo Maresca's side won 4-2. After the game, he shared his experience of playing at Stamford Bridge as a Chelsea player, saying (via @Blue_Footy on X):
"Overall, I was just happy to play at Stamford Bridge for the first time as a Chelsea player. It was a great feeling and I really appreciated the reception I got from the fans. It was a great feeling [to get a standing ovation from the fans] and my family and friends were in the crowd for the game, so that made it extra special.
"I’m happy to have been able to assist for goals in recent games, I’m settling in well here and I just want to keep this momentum going and keep being able to assist my team-mates. Or even get a first goal, that would be nice!"
Sancho was subbed off in the 71st minute for Mykhaylo Mudryk and received a great ovation from the home fans.
Chelsea extend winning run after dominant performance over Brighton
Chelsea came into the game against Brighton on the back of a four-game unbeaten and a three-game winning run. They drew 1-1 against Crystal Palace before beating Bournemouth 1-0 and West Ham United 3-0 in the Premier League. They then beat Barrow 5-0 in the EFL Cup third round.
The Blues, though, didn't have a good start against Brighton on Saturday as Georginio Rutter scored in the seventh minute. Cole Palmer, however, restored parity in the 21st minute before giving the hosts the lead from the penalty spot seven minutes later. He then completed his hat-trick from a direct free-kick three minutes later.
Carlos Baleba brought Brighton back into the game in the 34th minute but Palmer scored his fourth goal of the game in the 41st minute. In doing so, he became the first player in Premier League history to score four goals in one half.
