Former Aston Villa and Everton chief executive-turned-pundit, Keith Wyness believes Liverpool superstar Trent Alexander-Arnold is unhappy under new head coach Arne Slot. The full-back is now in the final year of his contract at Anfield and is yet to agree on an extension with the club amidst Real Madrid links.

Alexander-Arnold looked unhappy after he was substituted off during the Reds' 2-0 win over Brentford on August 25. He came off the pitch, ignoring Slot in front of the home fans, before taking his seat on the bench for the remainder of the game.

Speaking to the Insider Track podcast (via Football Insider), Keith Wyness claimed:

“All the signs, the rumours and the body language have suggested this could be the end for Trent at Liverpool. But it’s a difficult one. Something would have happened by now if it was going to go through this summer."

Wyness further added:

"I can understand the links with Real Madrid. But here we are with a day to go and nothing’s happened. Trent doesn’t seem happy, so something may have been turned down or there’s a negotiation going on. I’ve got no inside track, but it does seem like something is going on.”

Trent Alexander-Arnold has been linked with a move to Real Madrid recently.

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot speaks about Trent Alexander-Arnold's substitution against Brentford

Speaking after their 2-0 win over Brentford, Liverpool boss Arne Slot discussed Trent Alexander-Arnold's frustration after he was taken off. The right-back did not take too kindly to being taken off the pitch, as he gave Slot the cold shoulder when walking off.

However, the Reds manager made it clear that he understood the reasons why Alexander-Arnold was not happy, telling reporters during a press conference (via Eurosport):

"He didn't look that happy after being taken off? I can understand that. Every player wants to play 90 minutes, but I don't think the players that were on the bench from the start were really happy with the choice I made."

The head coach will be hoping that he can retain the right-back, who was instrumental in Liverpool's years of success under Jurgen Klopp.
