Chelsea fans took to Twitter to express their disappointment with central defender Benoit Badiashile's performance in their 4-2 win over Belgian side Gent in the UEFA Conference League. The Frenchman had some nervy moments in the fixture despite the Blues' comfortable win at Stamford Bridge on Thursday, October 3.

One fan suggested that he should not be with the London side anymore, typing:

"Even loan sef, he shouldn't be in this club"

While another echoed similar sentiments, tweeting:

"Badiashile playing himself onto the sell list. Unfortunate."

Here are some fan reactions:

Finally, another fan made a bold claim, typing:

"Badiashile is the most useless defender I have ever seen gfb."

On the ball, Badiashile looked more comfortable than in previous outings, completing 94% of his passes (159/169) but overall did not do much to inspire confidence or compete for more regular minutes. He missed one big chance and lost two of the three duels he contested.

Chelsea, however, exercised their dominance throughout the fixture and ran out deserved winners. A debut goal for Renato Veiga in the first half was followed by strikes by Pedro Neto, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, and Christopher Nkunku in the second half to round off the scoring.

Casadei made his second start of the season against Gent.

Chelsea midfielder Cesare Casadei claimed that he wanted to stay at the club despite loan offers for him during the summer. The Italian stated that he spoke to new manager Enzo Maresca and insisted on staying and fighting for minutes with the Blues.

Ahead of the side's clash against Gent, he said (via press conference):

"It was my decision [to stay at Chelsea for the 2024/25 campaign]. Last season was not very easy for me, so at the start of the season I was thinking about what the best solution was for me. But after I spoke to the manager, I was 100 per cent sure the decision to stay would be best for me, my career and my improvement."
“There were some possible loans but I spoke to the manager and he told me what he thinks and I had no doubts from that moment.”

Casadei began the 2023-24 campaign on loan at Leicester, working under Maresca. He had a decent stint with the Foxes before being recalled by the Blues in the winter, but struggled to get game time at Stamford Bridge.

Ahead of the new campaign, reports claimed that teams in Italy, including AC Milan had a look at the 21-year-old, but he decided to stay. He earned his second start in Chelsea's 4-2 win over Gent and put in a solid performance overall.
