However, Watford denied Manchester City a clean sheet as Thomas Ince scored in the 86th minute.

In the post-match press conference, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola appreciated Matheus Nunes' display in their 2-1 win over Watford in the EFL Cup. Nunes scored the home team's second goal of the night in his first start of the season.
