Real Sociedad president Jokin Aperribay has poured cold water on claims linking Takefusa Kubo with a summer move to Liverpool. The Japan international has been linked with a move to Merseyside as a potential successor to Mohamed Salah.

The 23-year-old has made 85 appearances for the Basque club, scoring 16 and assisting 14 goals. But the chances of an Anfield move for Kubo look unlikely following Sociedad president Aperribay's comments. He told Spanish daily Noticias de Gipuzkoa:

"There are no negotiations with any club. We’re in the market to sign players so anything can happen, but Take is very happy here and he’s going to continue here."

Real Sociedad manager Imanol Alguacil has also echoed these sentiments, saying (via Football365):

“At the moment they are ours and Take is here with us, I hope to count on all of them for next season.”

The Merseyside club are reportedly looking at potential replacements for Salah who turns 33 next year. The Egyptian has won the English Premier League, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, one FA Cup, and Two League Cups with the Reds.

Liverpool midfielder hopes Takefusa Kubo joins from Real Sociedad

Liverpool midfielder Wataru Endo hopes his Japan teammate Takefusa Kubo will join him at Anfield. The Reds have been tipped with a move for the winger this window, and the midfielder has fanned the flames of a potential move with recent comments.

When asked which member of the Japanese team he would like to join him at Liverpool, Endo said (via Football 365):

“Kubo.”

He explained his choice, saying:

“The search for a replacement for Mohamed Salah has begun, so this is becoming a real area for Liverpool to strengthen. I think the player who can replace him, in the national team, would be Kubo.”

Mohamed Salah heads into the last year of his contract with the Reds as a 32-year-old. The club would want to actively look for his potential replacement to make a future transition smooth.
