Real Madrid secured a 2-0 win over Villarreal in the league on Saturday, October 5. Federico Valverde and Vinicius Junior found the back of the net to mark a fruitful night for Carlo Ancelotti's side.

Meanwhile, Los Blancos are working to tie Dani Carvajal to a new deal. Elsewhere, the Spanish champions are interested in an Aston Villa striker.

On that note, let's look at the major Real Madrid transfer stories from October 6, 2024.

According to The Daily Briefing, Real Madrid are in advanced talks to tie Dani Carvajal down to a new deal. The Spanish right-back has been indispensable for Los Blancos but is in the final year of his contract.

The La Liga giants are pleased with his efforts and believe the player still has a lot of football left in him. The club are already locked in talks to extend the 32-year-old's stay at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The two parties are optimistic about the outcome of the discussions. Dani Carvajal has registered 14 goals and 65 assists from 427 games across competitions for Real Madrid. He is also a revered figure in the club's dressing room and one of the leaders.

The Spaniard is likely to be handed a one-year extension, as has been the norm at the club with players over 30. Carvajal picked up a gruesome knee injury in Saturday's win over Villarreal and Los Blancos will hope he isn't sidelined for a long spell.

Los Blancos want Jhon Duran

According to Football Insider, Real Madrid have set their sights on Jhon Duran. The Colombian striker has been on fire for Aston Villa this season, scoring six goals from nine games across competitions.

His efforts have already turned heads at the Santiago Bernabeu. While Carlo Ancelotti has a fiery attack at his disposal, he lacks a proper No. 9 in his squad. Duran could be the ideal man for the job.

The 20-year-old has started just one game under Unai Emery this season, but Villa consider him a vital part of their plans. However, the lure of the fabled white shirt could work in Los Blancos' favor if they decided to make a move.

Duran is under contract at Villa Park until 2028, so he won't come cheap.

Real Madrid interested in Achraf Hakimi, says former player

Real Madrid are planning to bring Achraf Hakimi back to the club, according to former Tottenham Hotspur striker Darren Bent. The right-back position at the Santiago Bernabeu has constantly been in the news in recent months.

While Dani Carvajal has shown no signs of slowing down, Los Blancos remain keen to stay prepared for the future. Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold has been named as an option, but Bent insists that the club also have their eyes on former player Hakimi.

The Moroccan rose through the ranks at the Santiago Bernabeu but failed to establish himself in the first team. He left in 2020 to join Inter Milan and ended up at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) a year later.

Speaking recently, as cited by LiverpoolEcho, Bent felt the La Liga giants are in no hurry to replace Carvajal.

“Achraf Hakimi is the next one. What I’ve heard is that Real Madrid are quite big on their dressing room and Dani Carvajal, what is he – 32? So bringing someone in now would upset the dressing room because he’s such a big player," said Bent.
“He’s won everything for them. Maybe in a year’s time he says I’m going, then they bring another one in, but the timing is off for that,” he added.

Meanwhile, Alexander-Arnold's contract at Anfield expires at the end of this season and he hasn't signed a new deal. The 25-year-old is one of the finest in the world in his position and has been linked with Real Madrid for a while.

Bent added that his countryman will be tempted to move to the Santiago Bernabeu if he decides to leave Liverpool.

“That is the only place he would want to go [other than staying at Liverpool]. Real Madrid, why would you not want to play for that team, with that manager, with some of them players?" said Bent.
“Could you imagine him in that team? And for his brand as well, but future Liverpool captain, he’s Liverpool through and through, that’s why I have reservations,” he concluded.

Trent Alexander-Arnold has 19 goals and 83 assists from 319 games for the Merseyside giants.
