Real Madrid travel to the Balearic Islands on Sunday, August 18, to face Mallorca in La Liga. Carlo Ancelotti's team arrive at the game in red-hot form, having already won the UEFA Super Cup against Atalanta earlier this week.

Meanwhile, Los Blancos will not sign a new defender this summer. Elsewhere, the Spanish champions are yet to receive an offer for a Brazilian midfielder.

On that note, let's look at the major Real Madrid transfer stories from August 18, 2024.

Real Madrid will not sign a new defender this summer, Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed. The La Liga giants are a little light in the center-back department, following Nacho Fernandez's decision to leave at the end of last season.

Ancelotti has Antonio Rudiger and Eder Militao as his only senior centerbacks, with David Alaba still sidelined with an injury. The Austrian is expected to return to action later this year and the situation has seen them linked with multiple new faces.

Los Blancos were keen to sign Leny Yoro earlier this summer, but refused to match Lille's asking price for the 18-year-old. Manchester United ultimately pipped them to the services of the Frenchman. Recent reports have suggested that Real Madrid have their eyes on Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero.

However, speaking to the press, Ancelotti reiterated that Los Blancos won't make any more signings this summer.

“The squad is closed. We won’t sign a CB because we have Alaba and some youngsters,” said Ancelotti.

Los Blancos have roped in Endrick and Kylian Mbappe this summer.

Real Madrid trying to offload Reinier Jesus

Real Madrid are yet to receive an offer for Reinier Jesus this summer, according to AS. The Brazilian midfielder is a forgotten man at the Santiago Bernabeu and spent last season on loan at Frosinone.

He failed to have an impact with the Italian club and his future remains up in the air at the moment. Reinier joined Los Blancos with a huge reputation in 2020, but is yet to make his first team bow.

The La Liga giants remain keen to move the 22-year-old this year. The player is also seeking greener pastures to get his career back on track. However, there's very little interest in his signature at the moment.

The Brazilian is not part of Carlo Ancelotti's setup and is training with Real Madrid Castilla as he awaits for his situation to resolve. Rayo Vallecano were previously interested in the 22-year-old but haven't followed it up with a concrete offer yet.

Dani Ceballos decides to stay

Dani Ceballos has decided to stay put at Real Madrid following a conversation with Carlo Ancelotti, according to AS. The Spanish midfielder has been in and out of the first team squad of late and has been linked with an exit this summer.

Los Blancos are spoilt for choice in the middle of the park at the moment. Despite Toni Kroos' exit, Ceballos could struggle to break into the Italian manager's starting XI this season. While Eduardo Camavinga's injury could offer a window of opportunity, there are multiple names ahead of the Spaniard in the pecking order.

It was believed that the 28-year-old would seek a new adventure before the close of the transfer window. However, he had a chat with Ancelotti over the summer regarding his situation and has now decided to stay.
