Real Madrid provided an injury update on Eder Militao after he picked up a knock while on international duty with Brazil. The center-back was primarily diagnosed with a muscle injury on his right leg, having sustained it during a training session.

In a statement, Los Blancos mentioned that tests revealed that the Brazilian had been diagnosed with a muscle injury due to overload in the rectus femoris of his right leg.

Eder Militao had an injury-riddled last season, sustaining a cruciate ligament tear in August 2023, which kept him out of action for 213 days, followed by struggling with fitness issues till the end of March this year.

Real Madrid have reportedly spoken to FIFA, expressing their disappointment over the injured defender, who recently returned to full fitness. Militao appeared in all four La Liga games for the Spanish giants before the international break, providing an assist.

Managing Madrid reported that Eder Militao will be out for about 10 days and is expected to be back in action after Los Blancos' upcoming match against Real Sociedad in La Liga on September 14.

Militao's injury has added to Real Madrid's woes in defense, with David Alaba, Jesús Vallejo, and Ferland Mendy being out with injuries. Dani Ceballos, Jude Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga, and Aurélien Tchouaméni are also out with injuries.

Real Madrid boss reportedly finds new center-back option following Eder Militao's injury

Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has a new tough challenge ahead of him concerning his defensive options. With Eder Militao's injury, the Italian manager may reportedly consider Dani Carvajal as a temporary solution, as per Relevo.

The Spanish right-back, who is one of Los Blancos' most decorated players with over 400 appearances, has seldom played as a center-back in his career. However, his on-field experience with Antonio Rudiger can be an asset for Madrid's upcoming La Liga match.

Los Blancos had their eyes on Lenny Yoro to add a center-back to their squad in the summer transfer window. However, they failed to secure the signing as the Frenchman joined Manchester United.

With Yoro's potential deal falling through, Ancelotti was left to heavily depend on Eder Militao and Antonio Rudiger in defense. However, with the Brazilian's injury, the Italian manager will have to look into other options.
