Real Madrid have reportedly received a boost in their efforts to take Alphonso Davies to the Santiago Bernabeu. According to Relevo, Bayern Munich have given up on extending the player's stay at the Allianz Arena.

The Canadian speedster has entered the final year of his contract with the Bavarians and is yet to sign a new deal. Los Blancos are long-term admirers of the 23-year-old and remain keen to secure his services.

Davies has established himself as one of the finest left-backs in the world in recent seasons. The Canadian is the epitome of a modern fullback, combining his attacking intent very well with defensive solidity.

The player has amassed 199 appearances for the Bundesliga giants till date, scoring 11 times and setting up 32 more. His efforts have already made him a wanted man in recent times, but he could finally be on the move in 2025.

The La Liga giants have been keeping a close eye on his situation for a while. Real Madrid already have Ferland Mendy in their ranks, but his contract expires in 2025. Los Blancos have apparently identified Davies as an upgrade on the Frenchman.

A recent report from MARCA has claimed that Mendy has already agreed to extend his stay with the La Liga champions until 2027. However, an official confirmation is awaited. The 29-year-old is highly regarded by Carlo Ancelotti, who has personally requested Real Madrid to extend his stay.

Real Madrid remain optimistic about their chances of securing Alphonso Davies on a Bosman move next summer. However, Los Blancos are aware that the deal is far from done and are refusing to take the move for granted.

Bayern Munich have made some attempts to establish contact with the player's representatives in recent times. However, their efforts to tie him down to a new deal haven't been fruitful so far.

The Canadian initially wanted a €20m in annual wages, but later offered to lower his demands to €17m per year. While the Bavarians were previously willing to offer him a similar salary, they haven't returned to the table of late.

The situation will delight the La Liga champions, who can reach a pre-agreement with the player at the turn of the year. Davies' arrival will certainly improve Real Madrid's squad, with his attacking desire expected to add a new dimension to their gameplay.
