Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti on if he's being unfair to Endrick

Carlo Ancelotti recently shared his thoughts on if he's being unfair to Real Madrid striker Endrick. It comes after their 4-1 win over Espanyol in La Liga at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday, September 21.

Los Blancos signed Endrick from Palmeiras in 2022 but had to wait two years to bring him to the club as he turned 18 earlier this summer. Since arriving, he has scored two goals in six games and also won a penalty against Espanyol on Sunday. However, he has yet to start a single game so far.

After Real Madrid's emphatic win over Espanyol, Carlo Ancelotti was asked if he was being unfair to Endrick. He pointed out the competition for places in the squad, saying (via Managing Madrid):

“On the one hand, yes, I may be being unfair, because he is training well; he is someone with a lot of quality. But in front of him are Vinicius, Rodrygo, Mbappé... it is necessary, for him, to be a little patient.”

Endrick came on in the 84th minute when Real Madrid were leading 3-1 against Espanyol and brilliantly won a penalty in the 89th minute. He kept the ball in play after an attack and pushed towards the box as Carlos Romero brought him down. Kylian Mbappe converted the penalty to make it 4-1.

Carlo Ancelotti on Real Madrid's performance against Espanyol

Coming into the La Liga clash at the Santiago Bernabeu, newly promoted Espanyol had conceded just five goals in five games. They also did exceedingly well against Real Madrid, as they kept them out for almost an hour. A Thibaut Courtois own goal in the 54th minute gave the visitors the lead.

Dani Carvajal equalised four minutes later before Rodrygo Goes (75'), Vinicius Jr. (78'), and Kylian Mbappe (90' p) completed the scoring. After the game, Carlo Ancelotti shared his thoughts on his side's performance, saying (via Managing Madrid):

“We played faster up front, playing faster and making some better moves. We covered the area well. We didn’t have a striker who could set up the position, but we did get in fantastically from the back. Mobility, as always, is an important weapon. The third goal was spectacular, on a fantastic counterattack.
"We had many shots on goal and we should be satisfied. At the back, the recovery was good, as was the pressure after losing the ball. We came out with a good dynamic, little by little we are returning to our best version.”

Real Madrid will now return to action on Tuesday (September 24) as they host Deportivo Alaves in La Liga.
