Argentina fire savage shot at Drake after his failed bet against them at Copa America

Canadian superstar Drake has lost not only his rap beef with Kendrick Lamar but also $300,000 after his Copa America semifinal bet against Argentina fell short. The holders knocked his country out of the competition with a 2-0 victory and compounded his misery with a savage post on X, rubbing salt in his wounds.

The musician is an avid punter but is famed for his terrible luck with his predictions and MLS icon Alexis Lalas even joked that he jinxed his country by backing them, saying on his State of the Union Podcast:

“He did his country a disservice. One thing I know about him is that he likes to place big bets. But then he loses them a lot. He’s Canadian right? I think he did his country a disservice by placing $300,000 bet on Canada [beating Argentina].
“If he really wanted to do Canada a service, he would’ve placed that bet on Argentina and then it would’ve been the reverse-jinx.”

The Albiceleste made a post on their social media handles after their victory, referencing Kendrick Lamar's chart-topping diss track aimed at Drake. The post read:

"Not like us, not with us."

Argentina head to the final of Copa America where they will face Colombia or Uruguay at the Hard Rock Stadium on July 15. Given Drake's potential jinxing capabilities, the highly superstitious Albiceleste team will hope he is 'not with them' when they play to retain their crown.

Argentina through to Copa America after 2-0 victory over Canada

Canada fell to a 2-0 defeat to Argentina in the Copa America semifinal at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Despite Canda giving a good account of themselves in the game, La Albiceleste had the quality and grit to see out the game and book their place in the final, scheduled for July 15.

The game was pretty even statistically, with a one percent difference in possession between the sides. However, the holders scored two of their three shots on goal, while the Canadians could only draw saves from Emiliano Martinez with their two big chances.

Goals from Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez and legendary forward Lionel Messi were the difference on the night. The North Americans will look back proudly at their performance in the match and Copa America after making it to the first semifinal in their history, even if Drake might rue his poor bet.
