Barcelona fans were left disappointed with the performance of forward Ferran Torres in the 2-1 win over Valencia in their La Liga opener on Saturday (August 17).

The game marked new coach Hansi Flick's competitive debut for the Blaugrane. The German included Torres in his starting line-up in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Robert Lewandowski was the starting striker, while Lamine Yamal, Raphinha and Ferran Torres formed the attacking trio behind him.

Culers took to social media during and after the match to criticise Torres' performance in the game, especially after the Spaniard missed one crucial chance to score. Here are some of the reactions:

"Ferran Torres is not a football player."
"Ferran is horrible. I am done trying to pretend he's good."
"Bro at this point i think Anthony is better than Ferran" a fan said.
"Barca should just dash Ferran Torres out to anyone willing to collect. Guy is way too flop to be playing for Barcelona" another used opined.
"Ferran Torres should leave my team. His performance has been nothing but abysmal. I don’t know how he manages to escape every transfer window. Pep gave us nothing but an overpriced average player. I just hope that Flick finds another teamfor him." an X user shared.
"Ferran, it's time for you to learn Arabic my friend" a fan joked.
"Everyone in the attack dropped a masterclass except ferran Torres. Enough is enough, he needs to go, he offers us nothing" a Culer wrote.
"Ferran Torres just robbed Lamine Yamal from a generational assist." an individual mentioned.

With a mediocre 6.4 rating on Sofascore, Ferran Torres played 64 minutes against Valencia, recording only an 83% passing accuracy.

The Spanish forward missed one big chance to score after receiving the ball from Lamine Yamal in the middle of the pitch and dribbling into the box. He was also unable to win any ground duels.

Despite a poor performance from Torres, Barcelona won, thanks to Robert Lewandowsk's 45th-minute opener and his second from the spot four minutes later.

Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski shares thoughts after La Liga opener win against Valencia

Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski delivered a decent performance in the La Liga opener against Valencia after facing criticism for his performances during the Joan Gamper clash last week.

Lewandowski said in a post-game press conference about how it was important to win the opening match. He believed the Blaugrana weren't up to the mark in the first half but picked up later.

"Winning today was very important. In the first half, we had problems reaching the goal. In the second half, we were much better. It's a good win at a very difficult stadium.
"We did not play well in the first 20-25 minutes, but we played much better in the second half. In the last minutes, we had the game under control," Lewandowski said. (via Barca Universal)

He added that it would have been better had Barcelona improved their attacking game and added that he would like to score more to boost his confidence.

"If we played better in attack, we could have scored 3 or 4 goals. The most important thing is that we won. My objective is to score goals. I don't know how many by the end of the season, but they are important for confidence," he added. (via Barca Universal)

Barcelona next face Athletic Club in La Liga on August 24.
