NBA superstar and USA Basketball icon Kevin Durant is set to purchase a minority stake in French giants PSG, according to Fabrice Hawkins. The Phoenix Suns star will make his first foray into football in Europe by owning a minority share in the Ligue 1 outfit.

In recent years, a greater number of American sports stars and celebrities have begun to venture into football via team ownership. LeBron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Ryan Reynolds and Michael B Jordan are some of the household names in the USA to have sizeable investments in football.

Durant will reportedly buy an undisclosed small portion of PSG's shares this summer as part of his budding partnership with the club. RMC Sport reporter Hawkins broke the news, and the purchase will boost the profile of the French giants in the American market.

Kevin Durant was part of the USA Men's Basketball team that claimed gold at the 2024 Olympics in Paris, making history on his own. The 35-year-old became the all-time leading scorer for the team with his tally of 518 points unmatched by any player, past or present.

During the Olympic Games, Durant visited PSG Campus in Paris, where he met with the players and staff of the men's, women's, and academy teams. He also met with club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, manager Luis Enrique and director Luis Campos during his visit.

PSG set to complete deal for French youngster - Reports

PSG are closing in on the signing of France U-23 winger Desire Doue on a permanent deal from fellow Ligue 1 side Rennes. Fabrizio Romano reported that the versatile 19-year-old has revealed his decision to sign with Les Parisiens amid other interest this summer.

Doue caught the eye with his displays for Rennes in the 2023-24 season, where he scored four goals and provided four assists in 31 league matches. The teenager made the cut for the Olympic team this summer, playing under Thierry Henry as France finished with a silver medal in football.

Doue attracted several sides, including Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern Munich. Rennes placed a €50 million valuation on the forward, which PSG matched.

Doue will play in a new-look side that will be without Kylian Mbappe, who joined Real Madrid this summer. The youngster will hope to form part of a winning core at the club from the 2024-25 campaign.
