Manchester United are working to get back to their best under the new leadership of INEOS, who took charge of football affairs earlier this year. The Red Devils have already made multiple changes to their backroom setup and are now working to improve their squad.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils are planning to sign three more players this summer. Elsewhere, the Premier League giants are in talks with Fiorentina for Sofyan Amrabat.

On that note, let's look at the major Manchester United transfer stories from August 3, 2024.

Manchester United are eyeing further signings before the end of the summer, according to acclaimed journalist Fabrizio Romano. The Red Devils have been quite busy in the transfer market.

Erik ten Hag has already roped in Leny Yoro from Lille to bolster his backline, while Joshua Zirkzee has been signed from Bologna to improve the attack. However, the Dutch manager isn't done yet, with multiple candidates still linked with a move to Old Trafford.

Bayern Munich's Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui are reportedly in talks for a reunion with their former manager at Manchester United. The Red Devils have also been linked to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) midfielder Manuel Ugarte.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Romano stated that De Ligt and Mazraoui are waiting for the Premier League giants.

"Man United already wanted to bring in one more centre-back in any event, and this remains the plan. Bayern want €50m guaranteed for Matthijs de Ligt, Man United insist on using add-ons, but talks continue. De Ligt is waiting for Man United, so it's quite a clear position,” said Romano.
"In other areas, I'd still keep an eye out for a new midfielder and on Mazraoui, who's also waiting for United," he added.

A move for the Moroccan right-back is likely to depend on Aaron Wan-Bissaka's future.

Manchester United remain in talks to take Sofyan Amrabat to Old Trafford this summer, according to journalist Dharmesh Sheth.

The Moroccan midfielder had a mixed 2023-24 season on loan with the Premier League giants.

A strong finish to the campaign, especially against Manchester City in the FA Cup final, has prompted the club to consider a permanent transfer. Amrabat has entered the final year of his contract with Fiorentina and is expected to leave this summer.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Sheth added that the Red Devils are likely to sign another midfielder even if they secure Amrabat.

"Youssouf Fofana is another player that they've [Manchester United] been looking at, but Milan are very interested in him, and Sofyan Amrabat. That situation doesn't go away. They're still in talks with Fiorentina over reducing the option price that they had on the initial loan deal, which was £20m,” said Sheth.
"They don't want to pay that much, they want to pay less. But I'm told that if that fee does come down, and United do go ahead and try and buy Sofyan Amrabat, it wouldn't interfere with another big signing, because the fee wouldn't be so much for them to think 'we haven't got any other money to be able to bring in another midfielder', and they might be able to strengthen the squad as a whole," he continued.

With Casemiro and Scott McTominay staring at uncertain futures, a move for Amrabat makes sense.

Manchester United relaxed about Leny Yoro injury, says Fabrizio Romano

Manchester United are not worried about Leny Yoro's recent injury, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The French defender joined the Red Devils from Lille last month in what could be one of the coups of the summer.

The 18-year-old was also wanted by Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Real Madrid, but the English giants managed to win the race for his services.

However, Yoro picked up an injury against Arsenal in pre-season and will now be sidelined for three months. The developments will be a big blow for Manchester United, who were hoping that the Frenchman would solve their defensive woes.

In his column for Caught Offside, Romano insisted that the Red Devils are not worried about the long-term implications of the injury.

“Manchester United are regularly updated with the physical situation of their players, and will have all the information they need on the physical situation of Leny Yoro," wrote Romano.
"They’re not worried in the long term, he’s just been really unlucky in that friendly, and reports of other clubs pulling out of the race for Yoro because of the physical conditions of the player is something that is absolutely not the case,” he continued.

Romano concluded:

“I can guarantee that the medical results were absolutely excellent. All the clubs wanted to sign Leny Yoro; Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool and Real Madrid. It’s not a muscular injury, it’s just something that’s happened, so Man United remain really calm.”

The Premier League giants have also tied Jonny Evans to a one-year extension this summer.
