Manchester United are looking ahead to their upcoming Premier League clash against bitter rivals Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday, September 1. Erik ten Hag's team arrive at the game following a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have submitted their opening offer for Jadon Sancho. Elsewhere, Ajax are eyeing a move for a Danish midfielder.

On that note, let's look at the major Manchester United transfer stories from August 30, 2024.

Chelsea have submitted an official proposal to take Jadon Sancho on loan this summer, according to acclaimed journalist Fabrizio Romano. The English forward's future has been subject to intense speculation this summer and it now appears that he could leave Manchester United.

Juventus were in talks to take Sancho on loan, but failed to reach an agreement with the Red Devils. The Blues recently entered the race for the 24-year-old, who is apparently eager to move to Stamford Bridge as well.

The London giants have now placed an offer on the table to take Sancho on loan for the rest of the season. Their proposal is apparently superior to the terms offered by the Bianconeri and could tempt Manchester United.

Sancho is no longer part of Erik ten Hag's plans and will be allowed to leave this summer. It is unclear whether Chelsea's proposal includes the option to make the move permanent in 2025.

Ajax want Christian Eriksen

Ajax are considering a move for Christian Eriksen before the end of the transfer window, according to The Daily Mail. The Danish midfielder has entered the final year of his contract with Manchester United and is unlikely to be offered a new deal.

Eriksen lost his place in Erik ten Hag's team last season following Kobbie Mainoo's emergence. His situation is unlikely to change any time soon, with the Red Devils all set to welcome Manuel Ugarte to their roster.

As such, the 32-year-old is considering his options and will have the chance to return to the Johan Cruyff Stadium this year. Recent reports have suggested that he could be allowed to leave for just €5m this year.

Manchester United considering Raheem Sterling move, says journalist

Raheem Sterling
Raheem Sterling

Manchester United are open to a late move for Raheem Sterling this summer, according to journalist Dharmesh Sheth. The English forward is a peripheral figure at Stamford Bridge and Chelsea are eager to cash in on him before the end of Friday.

Arsenal are apparently keeping a close eye on Sterling as they look to bolster their attack this summer. The Red Devils have also been linked with a move for the 29-year-old, with a swap deal involving Jadon Sancho mentioned as a possibility.

Sterling is proven in the Premier League and could be a fine addition to the Dutch manager's squad. While he hasn't been in his element with the London giants, he could be an upgrade on Antony at Old Trafford.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Sheth added that a move for the 29-year-old is likely to be independent of Sancho's transfer.

“Manchester United is clearly going to be one of those options. Now this has come more from the Chelsea end, because they are offering Sterling to United. Now, United, make no mistake about it, if Sancho was to go, they don’t actually need to replace Sancho. They feel they’ve got enough quality and quantity in the forward lines to be able to deal with the Sancho departure," said Sheth.

He continued:

“However, the idea of Sterling is something that they are considering, but they still maintain that the Sterling issue is a Chelsea issue, so they would be willing to allow Sancho to leave regardless of whether Raheem Sterling was to come to Manchester United or not.”

Sterling appeared 43 times last season for Chelsea, scoring ten goals and setting up eight more.
