Manchester United have secured the future of one of their standout performers, Bruno Fernandes, after reaching an agreement on a contract extension that will keep the Portuguese midfielder at Old Trafford at least until June 2027.

The deal, which includes an option to extend for an additional season, is expected to be officially signed before the end of the summer transfer window, journalist Fabrizio Romano reported on social media platform X.

While the exact figures of the new deal remain undisclosed, it is understood that Fernandes' salary will be in line with the club's top earners. But it comes as no surprise as the 29-year-old has continued to weather the storm of uncertainties plaguing Manchester United and deliver on-demand since he arrived from Sporting CP in January 2020.

After the conclusion of the 2023-24 season, there were distant rumors linking the midfielder away from the Red Devils, hence, the news of the contract extension will be a significant boost for the club and the fans.

"Manchester United have reached an agreement with Bruno Fernandes to extend his contract! New deal will be valid until June 2027 plus option included for further season, June 2028 — salary at top MUFC level. All set to be signed before end of the summer window," Fabrizio posted.

The formal announcement is expected to arrive in the coming days as Manchester United continue to prepare for a challenging Premier League campaign ahead.

A look at Bruno Fernandes' staggering spell with Manchester United

Bruno Fernandes arrived at United in early 2020, and since then, the Portugal international has exceeded even the loftiest expectations at Old Trafford. He has been the heartbeat of the club's midfield, performing even when the other around him has failed to.

In his 234 appearances for the club, Bruno scored 79 goals and provided 67 assists. He has done everything from fox-in-the-box goals to stunning freekick to crowd-silencing stunning long-range bangers. But his biggest contribution has always been to deliver irrespective of the depleting performances of his teammates.

His vision, work ethic, and leadership have made him an indispensable asset to the Red Devils, and this new deal is a clear indication of the club's intent to build their future around him.
