Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has provided a fitness update on Rasmus Hojlund, Mason Mount, and Victor Lindelof ahead of his side's EFL Cup clash against Barnsley at Old Trafford. The Dutchman stated that the trio will not return to the lineup for their clash on Tuesday, September 17.

Their injuries have seen the 20-time English champions light in reinforcements as their situations continue to be assessed. Speaking ahead of his side's match at Old Trafford, Erik ten Hag said of the trio's possible inclusion in the game (via the Daily Mail):

"They are not ready for tomorrow. We will see for the weekend how their progress will continue."

Hojlund and Lindelof haven't featured for United this season after picking up injuries during pre-season, hindering any tactical tweaks Erik ten Hag might've been able to make with a full squad at his disposal.

Mason Mount, on the other hand, has featured in two Premier League matches so far but picked up a minor issue ahead of their clash against Liverpool.

Erik ten Hag pleased to have "nice headache" at Manchester United this season

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag stated that he is pleased to have a "nice headache" as it concerns his available options for the team this season. The Dutch manager had to deal with injuries and a thin squad last season and only managed an eighth-place finish in the Premier League.

The club signed Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui, Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, and Manuel Ugarte to bolster the squad this summer.

Talking about the new options in the team ahead of his side's EFL Cup opener against Barnsley, Ten Hag said (via the Daily Mail):

"It’s a nice headache. I hope I have headaches because last year I also had headaches but there were no players available. I have many players available and we can make a selection from game to game. Definitely, we have to rotate because we have to cover so many games. It’s not only about the starting XI."

Ten Hag will be expected to use his newfound wealth of options at Manchester United and give a strong account of himself in the competition he won in his debut season at the club. The Dutchman has won a domestic cup in each of his two seasons at Old Trafford.
