Premier League giants Manchester City and Arsenal have reportedly entered the race to sign Liverpool target Daniel Svensson. The Swedish prodigy, 22, has a penchant for providing assists and is allegedly seen as a substitute for Andy Robertson and Konstantinos Tsimikas at Anfield.

Svensson plays for Danish side FC Nordsjaelland, where he has already clocked eight goals and 19 assists in 145 games across competitions. Furthermore, the Swede is known for his ability to play in multiple positions - center-half, right-back, or defensive midfield.

According to a report by TBR, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, and Arsenal are all interested in signing him, while there is an element of interest from Brentford.

Pep Guardiola's side might be looking to recruit someone flexible enough to play in multiple positions. Meanwhile, Arsenal's Oleksandr Zinchenko and Kieran Tierney are both injured and Mikel Arteta might be looking for an alternative to address these concerns.

In a recent interview with Fotboll Skanalen (via TBR), Svensson talked about Liverpool's interest and the prospects of leaving FC Nordsjaelland.

“The Liverpool interest is] great fun, of course. It’s a sign that I’m doing something right and performing well,” Svensson told the outlet. “I just use it as fuel to run on.
“It was obviously a bit surreal. I don’t know much about it. I only know that [Liverpool] watched some matches and such. More than that, I don’t know,” he added.

Svensson was promoted to FC Nordsjaelland's senior team in February 2021 and his current contract doesn't expire until 2027. However, the versatile player revealed that he was contemplating getting a fresh start in another club relatively soon.

Svensson also insisted a summer departure was more likely than a winter one. Finally, he stressed getting quality playing time as the ultimate priority while not showing much concern for the league he goes to.

Speaking to MyBettingSites, former Arsenal midfielder Gilberto Silva highlighted what the Gunners need to do to outclass Manchester City and Liverpool and finally win the Premier League title this season.

The Brazilian opined that the team had become mature and lavished praise on the new signings by Mikel Arteta. However, he added that it wouldn't be easy and the team needed to stop making crucial mistakes against mid-table sides.

“I think that the team today is very mature, added that ructured. When we look at the Arsenal team, the players, the team, the formation, the balance between the sectors is very well defined. It is important to go far. The signings that have been coming in have been important, with results, this also makes the whole job easier," said Gilberto Silva.
"It’s not just about hiring, you need to hire athletes who come in and wear the shirt and deliver results for a team like Arsenal. It won’t be easy, again. It is important to learn from past mistakes. In the last two seasons, they made crucial mistakes against smaller and mid-table teams, especially at home. They have to do this homework very well this season,” he added.

Liverpool currently lead the Premier League table with 18 points from seven games. Manchester City, meanwhile, are second with 17. The Gunners, also on 17 points, are placed third on the table.
