Liverpool fans have been left frustrated owing to their club's inactivity in the transfer window, but there hasn't been any lack of effort. The Reds have earmarked numerous players through the summer window but failed to add the finishing touch.

According to a report from TuttoJuve, the Merseyside giants are keen on acquiring the services of winger Takefusa Kubo. The club, as reported by TBR Football, identifies the Real Sociedad man as a long-term replacement for the prolific Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian talisman, who turned 32, has been one of the standout performers for Liverpool, scoring an astounding 211 goals in 349 appearances across all competitions.

While those numbers are astounding and seem impossible to replicate, at least immediately, Kubo has shown plenty of potential. Although his finishing ability isn't on par with Salah's, the Japanese winger has shown plenty of quality down the flank.

Michael Edwards, the CEO of Football at Anfield, was previously in talks to bring the former Real Madrid winger to Anfield, but the move never materialized. With the Martin Zubimendi deal falling through, however, Liverpool might again shift their focus to Kubo.

How can Liverpool lineup for their opener against Ipswich Town?

Despite not making any signings in the summer, Liverpool still have a squad stacked enough to conjure a winning start to the season against newcomers Ipswich. The Reds played two friendlies on August 11 simultaneously against Sevilla and Las Palmas. Many believe Arne Slot played his first-choice lineup against the club from Seville.

Going by those assumptions, Alisson between the sticks, as well as Virgil van Dijk and Jarell Quansah as the center-back pairing seem obvious. Trent Alexander-Arnold will undoubtedly start on Saturday, while Konstantinos Tsimikas might be picked ahead of Andrew Robertson.

Ryan Gravenberch, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Alexis Mac Allister are slated to form the midfield trio. Mohamed Salah expectedly will start on the right, while Luis Diaz is likely to retain his spot on the left after some blistering performances last season. Diogo Jota started as the center-forward last week and is likely to trump Darwin Nunez to the starting lineup yet again.
