Liverpool talisman Mohamed Salah has brought out a new celebration for the 2024-25 season. After scoring in both of the side's opening matches, the Egyptian was seen doing a particular celebration that bemused fans. He has now revealed where it has come from.

The forward found the net in each of Liverpool's opening two Premier League fixtures against Ipswich Town and Brentford. After scoring, Salah mimicked the archery action of drawing an arrow from a quiver and shooting from a bow.

The Liverpool star not only has a new celebration but also a new look this season. He has shaved off his famous mane and is sporting a crew-cut look.

The 'archery' celebration led to widespread speculation as to why he was doing it. Some fans said it was dedicated to Egyptian archers who represented the country at the recently concluded Paris Olympic Games.

Mohamed Salah, however, revealed the real reason behind it in an interview with 'Men in Blazers.' He said UFC star Israel Adesanya inspired him to do the bow and arrow celebration.

"I was watching the UFC, Pereira against Israel Adesanya. When Adesanya won the second fight, he celebrated like that. I liked that celebration and that's why I did it," Salah revealed. (4:44)

The 32-year-old said it could also be dedicated to the Egyptian Pharaohs who used bow and arrow as their weapon of choice.

Mohamed Salah is enjoying football under new Liverpool boss Arne Slot

It wasn't only Mohamed Salah's look and celebration that underwent a transition over the summer, Liverpool also had a change in management. Dutchman Arne Slot replaced popular figure Jurgen Klopp as the manager of the club.

During an interview with Sky Sports, the Egyptian national team captain spoke about his admiration for both managers and highlighted the differences in their styles.

"It has been a big change. I had been with Jurgen for seven or eight years, but now with the new manager there's different things. I enjoyed it before and I'm enjoying it now," Salah said.
"We play a different kind of football now. The manager now wants to control the ball all the time - with Jurgen, sometimes we'd just go counter-press and try to attack all the time in their half. But now, we need to control the game, sometimes slow things down because that's part of the plan, and that's a big difference," the Liverpool star added.

The 32-year-old, who joined the Reds under Jurgen Klopp in 2017, is in the last year of his contract.
