Lionel Messi has named Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal as one of 10 future superstars in an advert for his new Adidas boots. The Argentine great named 10 players, all under the age of 20, who will wear the new Triunfo Estelar F50 boots from the German sportswear giants.

Many within and outside Barcelona have likened Yamal to Messi due to the nature of his game and the fact that he has made his name at the club. The 17-year-old was nominated for the 2024 Ballon d'Or, making him the youngest-ever nominee for the award in its history.

Lamine Yamal's career trajectory has drawn comparisons to that of Lionel Messi, and he will now wear boots from his idol this season. Yamal is not alone in this, as Adidas recruited nine more youngsters, as revealed by Messi, to also use the boots.

Argentine sensation Claudio Echeverri, 18, will join Manchester City from River Plate in 2025, and is one of the players named by Messi. Philadelphia Union's 15-year-old phenom Cavan Sullivan has also been named after making his debut for the MLS side aged just 14.

Manchester City prospect Joel Ndala, who is on loan at PSV Eindhoven, also made the list of players named by Lionel Messi, as did Juventus star Kenan Yildiz. RB Leipzig summer signings Antonio Nusa and Assan Ouedraogo are also part of the list of players. AS Monaco youngster Eliesse Ben Seghir also made the list of tsb future superstars.

Barcelona Femeni youngster Vicky Lopez and San Diego Waves teenager Jaedyn Shaw are the only two female footballers to make the list. All 10 players will use the new Messi +10 boots following their selection.

Lamine Yamal is set for his first taste of action in senior football with the number 10 shirt after he was confirmed to be the owner of the shirt for Spain this month. The 17-year-old will have the number for the first time since turning professional aged 15, famed journalist Fabrizio Romano has announced.

Yamal had the number 19 shirt for club and country in the first months of the season despite rumors linking him with the number 10 shirt at Barcelona. The youngster will now emulate childhood idol Lionel Messi in wearing the number 10 as a professional.

Spain's number 10 shirt is free this month due to the absence of Dani Olmo from the national team through injury, leaving Lamine Yamal to take it. The young forward will hope to add to his three goals and nine assists for Spain when they face Denmark and Serbia this month.
