Kylian Mbappe set to appoint former PSG women’s team coach as SM Caen technical director

Real Madrid superstar Kylian Mbappe is reportedly set to appoint former Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) women's team coach Gerard Precheur as the new technical director at SM Caen. As claimed by Goal, the Frenchman is looking to stamp his authority on the French Ligue 2 side, having completed a €20 million takeover of the club.

Mbappe became the majority stakeholder at SM Caen after buying stakes worth €20 million from previous owner Pierre-Antin Capton. As he looks to turn around the club's fortunes, Precheur looks set to be appointed as technical director.

Precheur was formerly the head coach of the PSG women's team until September 2023 before being replaced by his son Jocelyn Precheur. He also formerly worked for the likes of the Lyon women's team, Jiangsu Suning women's team, and France U20 women's team.

Caen have been in Ligue 2 since being relegated from Ligue 1 in 2018-19 when they finished 19th. They finished sixth in Ligue 2 last season and will kick off their domestic season with a clash against Paris FC on August 17.

Kylian Mbappe, meanwhile, is likely to make his much-anticipated debut for Real Madrid against Atalanta on Wednesday, August 14, in the European Super Cup final.

The Frenchman joined Los Blancos this summer on a free transfer after his contract expiry at PSG.
