Fans have reacted on social media after Bayern Munich handed Dinamo Zagreb a 9-2 mauling at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday night (September 17). The Bavarians were ruthless, starting their Champions League campaign with a big win.

The second half started with Dinamo Zagreb reducing the arrears through Bruno Petkovic and Takuya Ogiwara in the 48th and 50th minute, respectively. However, Kane made it 4-2 in the 57th minute before seeing a goal ruled out for offside on the hour mark.

Olise added his second of the night in the 61st minute before another penalty from Kane made it 6-2 for Bayern. Dinamo Zagreb's defense was in shambles as they conceded yet another penalty, which Kane converted in the 78th minute.

Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany explains why he subbed Manuel Neuer during the 9-2 win over Dinamo Zagreb

There was a surprise substitution at half-time as Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer came off for Sven Ulreich. While the eventual scoreline stole the headlines, Vincent Kompany was still asked why he made the change.

The Bayern Munich coach explained that they were concerned about Neuer, telling DAZN (via Bundesliga News in English):

"“It was a precaution. We didn't want to take any risks."

The manager went on to praise the Bayern players, adding:

"I'm just happy for the lads. They scored the goals, I didn't score any. We conceded two goals but we stayed calm. It's not ideal. I know already what happened and how we need to work on it. We need to have more control but that will come."

Bayern Munich will next face Werder Bremen in an away Bundesliga game on Saturday, September 21.
