Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag provided fitness update on Luke Shaw ahead of Carabao Cup clash

Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag provided a fitness update on left-back Luke Shaw ahead of their Carabao Cup clash. The 29-year-old is yet to make an appearance for the Red Devils this season as he sustained a calf injury at the beginning of pre-season training

About the English defender's recovery, Erik ten Hag said (via Fabrizio Romano on X):

"He's progressing but not yet ready to be selected. He is progressing well. We have a plan in our head when he can be ready but you're always dependent on how the progress will go. There are many factors, a plan can accelerate or slow down."

Besides Luke Shaw, United have four other standing injuries, which are Tyrell Malacia, Leny Yoro, Daniel Gore, and Mason Mount. The Red Devils play against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in their next Premier League game on September 21. It is followed by their fixture against Eredivisie club Twente at home on September 25 in the Europa League.
