Porto forward Samu Omorodion has opened up on his failed summer move to Chelsea. The striker, who was with Atletico Madrid until this summer, eventually moved to Porto in a €15 million move.

Omorodion also thanked Porto for giving him the opportunity after a failed move to Stamford Bridge. He also noted that he was much happier now than in the summer, telling RTVE (via Football Transfers):

"It was a very difficult summer. I went through a very difficult time because, after all, everyone knows that I was close to signing [for Chelsea], but the truth is that it didn't happen. It was for a reason: God didn't want it!"
"I am also very grateful to Porto for giving me the opportunity when the situation was difficult for me and I am very happy with my current situation. I have put the past behind me and now I am focused on what is to come," he added.

Samu Omorodion has started off well at Porto, scoring seven goals across competitions in as many appearances. Notably, he scored twice for the Portuguese side in their Europa League game against Manchester United.

Chelsea signed Joao Felix after Samu Omorodion's deal collapsed - Reports

Following the reported collapse of their move for Samu Omorodion, Chelsea signed Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid later in the summer window. Notably, the Blues' sale of Conor Gallagher depended on a player from the Spanish side heading in the opposite direction (via GOAL).

Felix was delighted to return to Stamford Bridge after spending six months on loan with the club in 2023. He said upon joining the London-based club (via GOAL):

"It's a chance for me to find a home. After two loans, Chelsea and Barca, I needed to stay permanently in one place. There is no better place for me to be than Chelsea. I see a perfect place to shine. It was a little bit of a lot of things that made me want to come back: the project, the club, the league, the fans, the time I spent here that I loved.
"I felt really good when I was here, despite the results we had. I'm really happy to be back. I'm 24 now. I'll be 25 in November. I feel like I grew up as a player. That's normal with age. I'm more prepared for the Premier League. I feel like my best years are ahead of me."

Joao Felix has not made the best of starts at Stamford Bridge in his second stint, scoring and assisting once each in seven appearances across competitions. He has started a Carabao Cup and a UEFA Conference League match but is yet to break into the Premier League starting XI under Enzo Maresca.
