Liverpool legend Didi Hamann reckons Newcastle United attacker Anthony Gordon would be a 'brilliant' acquisition for the club. The 23-year-old winger featured in one game for Englad at Euro 2024, where they lost 2-1 to Spain in the final.

Gordon contributed 12 goals and 11 assists in 48 games across competitions for Newcastle. Most of those goal contributions - 11 goals and 10 assists in 35 games - came in the Premier League.

The England international is contracted with Newcastle till 2026 and has a market value of €60 million. Considering the player's impact in the league, Hamann said on Top Offshore Casinos (as per GOAL):

"We’ve seen Anthony Gordon have a huge impact in the Premier League. He did so at Everton even when they were struggling, and after a tough start at Newcastle he has battled through, and he's one of their best players now.
"I read somewhere that Liverpool is his boyhood club, and I think it would be a brilliant signing. It also looks like Newcastle might need to sell some players this summer too. It depends on what Salah does."

He continued:

"It's been said for the last few years that it's his last season, and that he's going to go in the summer. So, obviously, we need to find out and see what's happening, but I think Gordon would be a brilliant signing because obviously going forward, if you've got pace.
"It just changes games. He had a brilliant season for Newcastle, and we need somebody who steps up and scores these goals in important games."

The attacker featured for just a minute in the goalless group-stage draw with Slovenia in the Three Lions' Euro 2024 campaign.

Liverpool have had a decent, if not spectacular, 2023-24 season. Jurgen Klopp's side at one point were in contention for an unprecedented quadruple but eventually ended the season with only one title.

It came in the EFL Cup, where the Reds beat Chelsea 1-0 in extra time. However, they fell in the quarter-finals to Atalanta and Manchester United in the UEFA Europa League and FA Cup respectively.

The Reds led the Premier League at the start of the year but eventually finished behind Manchester City and Liverpool in what was Klopp's last season in charge of the club.
