Danny Mills reckons Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold is leaning towards joining Real Madrid. The England international's contract with the Reds expires at the end of the season, and he has been linked with the La Liga giants.

Alexander-Arnold has yet to commit his future to the Merseysiders, and time is ticking down on his contract. He's been vital for his boyhood club but Mills feels the lust of playing at the Santiago Bernabeu could prove too enticing (via NetBet):

"You regret the things that you don't do. If you go to Madrid and it doesn't work, you can come back and have another go somewhere. But to go and play with some of the best in the world in that stadium week in, week out. I think if he gets the opportunity its very difficult to turn down."

Alexander-Arnold was born and raised in Liverpool, and many question whether his Merseyside routes will come into play. He's made 316 appearances at Anfield and is the Reds' vice-captain.

Mills doesn't think Alexander-Arnold should be too concerned about leaving his city of birth. The former Manchester City defender has a feeling the full-back is already dreaming of Real Madrid:

"I wouldn't be (worried). You've won the league, you've won the Champions League. It's like I just think sometimes you need to freshen it up. You need a new challenge. I think his head's been turned already."

Alexander-Arnold made his Liverpool debut in October 2016, aged 18, under Jurgen Klopp. He's gone on to score 19 goals and provide 83 assists, winning eight major trophies at Anfield.

When speaking recently, the Premier League's top-assisting defender remained tight-lipped over his future. He said he wanted to be a Liverpool player this season but couldn't guarantee he'd be with the club next summer.

Real Madrid look set for a busy summer in 2025 and are looking at several Premier League stars to bolster their squad. Alexander-Arnold is a target and could be viewed as Dani Carvajal's long-term replacement at the Bernabeu.

The Independent reports that Madrid is also interested in Manchester City midfielder Rodri. The Spaniard's situation at the Etihad is one to keep an eye on amid the club's ongoing court case over 115 charges, which could result in serious punishment.

Los Blancos also have an eye on signing a new central defender, and Arsenal's William Saliba and Tottenham Hotspur's Cristian Romero are options. Both have been in fine form in the English top flight over the past few years.
