Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has provided a positive update regarding Lamine Yamal's fitness. The German also thanked Spain boss Luis de la Fuente for resting the wonderkid in the second match of the international break.

Yamal was not asked to play in Spain's 3-0 win over Croatia in the UEFA Nations League. The 17-year-old, however, featured in La Roja's 1-0 win over Denmark in the first game of this international break.

According to noted football journalist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Flick thanked de la Fuente for resting Yamal in the game against Croatia. Flick also confirmed that Yamal is available for Barcelona's game against Sevilla.

“Lamine Yamal has recovered, he’s fine. We can confirm he’s available. I thank Luis de la Fuente for resting Lamine in the second game," Flick said.

Flick's comments come during a time when club managers have been urging international bosses to rest their star players during the international breaks. This is so that these players get some time to rest and recover before returning.

Lamine Yamal has been a revelation for Barcelona and Spain

Yamal has been a revelation in world football ever since helping Spain win the 2024 European Championships by beating England in the final. The young winger has dazzled everyone with his raw pace and control over the ball.

Flick has trusted Yamal to play on the right-hand side of his attack, feeding balls to Raphinha in the central attacking midfielder's position. Robert Lewandowski's excellent form as the leader of the attack has also given Yamal confidence.

In the eight matches that Yamal has started for Barcelona in LaLiga this season, he has scored four goals. He has also bagged five assists, and become a crucial cog in the wheel that Flick has developed with the Blaugrana.

Barcelona will return from the international break on Sunday, October 20, when they host Sevilla at Camp Nou. They are in the pole position of the La Liga table at the moment with 24 points inside their kitty.

With arch-rivals Real Madrid closely following them in the second position, Barcelona know that they cannot rest easy. Yamal will have the responsibility of making sure Barca usurp the La Liga title from Madrid this season.
