Manchester United star Lisandro Martinez has hailed compatriot Lionel Messi as the best player in football history. While naming Messi as the best player he had shared a pitch with, Martinez also termed him the greatest of all time.
The defender was thankful to have shared the pitch with Messi and was quick to name him when asked about the best footballer he played with. He told JD Football (via StrettyNews):
"Best player I've played with? I would say Lionel Messi. Why? Because he's the best player in the history of football and I play, I'm playing with him in the national team and I saw things that I never seen before in another player, so I think he's the best player. Yeah."
This was not the first time that Martinez hailed Messi as the best in the world. He spoke about the Inter Miami star earlier this year and said (via ESPN):
"Playing with Leo, for us it's a very important plus. Everyone knows what Leo represents, he's the best in the world. Having him play for our team is without a doubt a plus. We are very happy to share the day to day with him."
Lisandro Martinez has played 21 matches with Lionel Messi for Argentina. They have won the Copa America twice and also lifted the FIFA World Cup in 2022.

Lisandro Martinez said back in 2022 that it was a privilege and honor for him to have played with both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. The Manchester United star stated that he tried to learn as much as possible from the duo and said (via Daily Mirror):
"I feel privileged, it is an honour to share with them. You learn, you absorb. They have won everything; they want more, an admirable mentality, and you give your best in every workout."
When asked about playing with Ronaldo at Manchester United, the Argentine added:
"From the first day, Cristiano treated me well. He is very friendly, he has a very nice charisma, bringing smiles, making people laugh. He is very professional, he arrives early, he is the last to leave and he takes care of himself at meals. It all highlights why he has had such an impressive career."
