Former Chelsea defender William Gallas has labeled Cristiano Ronaldo as the biggest flop at Euro 2024. The Selecao were knocked out in the quarter-final stage after losing 5-3 on penalties to France after a goalless 120 minutes.

Ronaldo couldn't impact Portugal's performances in the continental tournament, failing to score in five appearances. He only managed one assist in Euro 2024. Speaking about the Al-Nassr superstar's performances, Gallas told Lord Ping (via GOAL):

"I'm going to get in trouble for saying this, and before I do, I have to state that this is a player who I completely respect. For his last Euro I wanted Ronaldo to shine in this competition because he deserves it after what he has done in football and for the example he has set for the younger players."
"Unfortunately, this time, it didn't happen for him. Listen, I love him as a professional. I love his attitude and desire. I love what he has achieved in his career, so it's really difficult for me to label him the biggest flop of Euro 2024, but the performances just haven't been there," he added.

After playing his final match at this European Championships, it is unsure whether Ronaldo will ever wear the Portugal shirt again. The Selecao's next major international tournament is the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

By then, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner will be over 40. So far, Ronaldo has played 212 matches for Portugal, bagging 130 goals and 45 assists.

Cristiano Ronaldo has hinted that he could continue playing for Portugal after their Euro 2024 exit. The Selecao are still without a reliable No. 9.

While Goncalo Ramos can replace Ronaldo, Diogo Jota can also play as a false nine. However, the former Manchester United superstar himself stated that he could continue playing for Portugal and wrote on Instagram:

"We are grateful for all that you have given us and all that we have accomplished so far. On and off the field, I'm sure this legacy will be honored and continue to be built. Together."

Ronaldo mentioned that his legacy could continue on the pitch and it could mean that he isn't ready to retire as far as international football is concerned.
