"I like what I see from him" – Paul Parker backs Manchester United star to shine this season

Erik ten Hag's side will open their new Premier League season this Friday.

Former Manchester United defender Paul Parker has showered praise on Amad Diallo ahead of the start of the new Premier League season.

Diallo, 22, has established himself as a vital squad member for the Red Devils over the last six months. He scored two goals and recorded one assist in 12 matches across all competitions for his club last campaign.

After impressing in his team's pre-season games, Diallo was handed a start in Manchester United's FA Community Shield loss last Saturday.

During a recent interview with MyBettingSites.co.uk, Parker was asked to opine on the Ivory Coast international. The 60-year-old responded:

"Well, I like what I see from him... when you're talking about a wide player at United. In the small run of games he had at the end of last season, he [did] more than what all the others [in his position did]."

Parker, who represented United between 1991 and 1996, concluded:

"[He] very rarely gives the ball away. He's positive with the ball, makes the right decisions in terms of what he does with the ball. Out of all of them there, I would put my faith in him as a wide player before the rest of them. That's without a doubt."

Since leaving Atalanta in a potential £37 million deal in 2021, Diallo has registered three goals and two assists in 22 appearances for his club.

Paul Parker blasts Manchester United star

Speaking to MyBettingSites.co.uk, Paul Parker stated that Antony has failed to live up to expectations at Manchester United. He elaborated:

"I was hoping last season after his first season, that he was going to show something. I was hoping that with a full pre-season, his second season in Manchester would serve a purpose. It only served a purpose to let everyone know that it's a fact and it's written in stone that he's not very good. I look at his left foot, and normally, you say people have got a wand as a left foot, he's got a log."

Antony, who joined the Red Devils from Ajax in a potential £86 million deal in the summer of 2022, has bagged just 11 goals for Manchester United so far. He has also laid out five assists in 82 overall matches.

Owing to his below-par displays for his club in the last two campaigns, Antony has dropped down in Manchester United's pecking order. The star is behind the likes of Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho.
