Pundit Gary Lineker made a hilarious admission in the studio after he was muted as he celebrated England reaching the Euro 2024 semifinals. The Three Lions prevailed on penalties against Switzerland on Saturday, July 6, to secure their berth in the last four in Germany.

English pundits have been very critical of the performances of their team throughout the tournament. They have barely impressed thus far but have found a way to reach the semifinals, regardless.

Gary Lineker was with fellow ex-internationals Frank Lampard, Rio Ferdinand and Micah Richards in the BBC studio as they watched the penalty shootout unfold. The moment Arsenal star Bukayo Saka stuck his penalty in the back of the net, they celebrated in their live broadcast, but the audio was muted when the replay of their celebration came on.

Richards questioned the reason for this and Lineker revealed that he had used language deemed inappropriate by the guidelines of their hosts, the BBC.

“I think, to be honest, I dropped an f-bomb," Lineker said.

England won the game on penalties, with Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold rifling home the decisive kick to ensure Gareth Southgate's side finished the shootout with a 100% record. Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford also made a crucial save, denying Manchester City defender Manuel Akanji.

The Three Lions qualified for a second successive semi-final at Euro 2024, the first time they have done so at the European Championship since 1980. They will now face the Netherlands, who reached their first semi-final since 2004, in the last four on July 10.

England captain set to be fit for Euro 2024 semi-final

England skipper Harry Kane is expected to be back in the starting lineup when they face the Netherlands in their Euro 2024 semi-final. The Bayern Munich man was taken off in extra-time after he appeared to pick up an injury.

Kane went flying into the England technical area in the second half of extra-time and seemed to be struggling with cramp. He was taken off immediately and replaced by Brentford striker Ivan Toney. Kane, however, revealed to the BBC that he will be available for the semi-final.

"I'm good. I had double cramp in my calf. Penalties, it is like for like because Ivan [Toney] is incredible. I will be fine," he said.

The former Tottenham Hotspur man has not been at his most clinical in Euro 2024 but has found the net twice for the Three Lions. He will be expected to play a major role when they face the Netherlands, given his pedigree and experience.
