Liverpool manager picked Real Madrid legend Luka Modric in his dream UEFA Champions League XI. He heaped praise on his achievements and also lauded his longevity.

Modric is the most decorated player in Real Madrid's history with 27 trophies to his name. Six of those have been the UEFA Champions League trophies, which is also a joint record. He shares it with Toni Kroos, Paco Gento, Dani Carvajal and Nacho Fernandez.

In a recent interview, Liverpool manager Arne Slot was asked to pick his dream Champions League XI. In midfield, he picked Modric, saying (via GiveMeSport):

“He’s hardly ever injured, his lifestyle must be very good as well. But what makes him special is he won it six times and is for such a long, long, long time right up there.”

Modric joined Real Madrid from Tottenham Hotspur in 2012 at the age of 27. He has since made 546 appearances for the Spanish giants, registering 39 goals and 88 assists. He's registered two assists in 12 games across competitions for Los Blancos this season.

The Croat is still going strong at the age of 39, putting in excellent performances for club and country. The Merengues are set to take on Celta Vigo away in LaLiga on Saturday, October 19. If Modric features in the game, he will become the oldest player to have ever played for the club, surpassing Ferenc Puskas' record.
